There'a a lot going on in these hills. From the annual Arts & Crafts Festival to the Fannie Moffit Stomp in Autumn there's plenty of good down home excitement in our small town. In the small gated community of Hanging Rock Development you will find just a mile or so away the Mennonite fellowship church where they still walk on the sides of the road to attend worship services. Also there is a Baptist church in the community and a local repair shop for oil changed and vehicle maintenance. A local bakery where Mrs. Ruby Huber has fresh baked breads and always a fine dessert to drop in an get in time for that evening picnic. Also, don't forget to stop by Howard's Diary to get a gallon of his fresh organic milk and a fresh cut rib eye or prime rib steak. Other Mennonites have fresh garden vegetables and other staples to make life easy like fresh poultry, flour and corn meal for all those country suppers. Love berries? Several Mennonites have fresh berry crops they sell from. Strawberries, Blueberries and Raspberries are organic staples in this community also not to mention all the fresh organic fish you can catch from the lakes and ponds on the property premises.
A short distance to the small town of Altamont you will find our county seat with a courthouse, post office, utility company, bank, drug store, gas station, and 2 small restaurants you can sit and eat in. The public school also is located in the town of Altamont that holds grades K-8. Our local High School, Grundy County High is 5-6 miles away from the Hanging Rock Development also. Located in the next town over, 10 miles is a Primary Care Facility and we also have a hospital in Sewanee just over the county line and this city also holds one of the finest colleges for higher education in the nation, St Andrews College. There are also some great swimming and hiking trails in our community like Greeter's Falls and The Great Stone Door for those nature lovers.
Just off the mountain and only a 25 minute drive is a larger "small" town of Manchester Tennessee. Here you will find some great shopping and dining also. Walmart is the main attraction and the local "Cracker Barrel". Manchester also has several banks, Goodwill, Food Lion, Attorneys Offices, Courthouse, I-24 Interstate and 2 of the major cell carrier companies also not to mention a host of other business to fit your needs.
Better shopping for those ladies who loves retail therapy is Murfreesboro Tn or Chattanooga (about the same distance both cities and prime shopping in both about 60 miles away) or even better Nashville Tennessee! Music City USA is only a 90 minute drive from the property and you can spend you weekends touring one of the fastest growing cities in the United States or enjoy the General Jackson or The Grand Ole Opry. One of my favorite places is Franklin Tennessee. It's filled with prime shopping for those who loves a taste of New York in Tennessee with shops like Louis Vuitton and American Girl Doll Store with it's very own cafe you can take your little gal and her American Girl Doll for a day of fun filled glitz and glamour and she can eat in the Doll shop with her companion in the Doll Cafe.
Let's talk family vacations! The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited park in the world and you will only be a mere 180 miles from it! Spend a weekend at Dollywood or enjoy a hike up Clingman's Dome.
I could rattle on for ages talking about things to do in Tennessee like the Jack Daniels Touring in Local Lynchburg or the Annual Bell Buckle Arts & Crafts Festival. There's so much to do. Check out all we have available in Tennessee with this TENNESSEE VACATION GUIDE
